One Drop, Double Impact: Good Health and Hope for Others!
Holy Trinity College’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (HTC ROTC) Unit continues to embody the spirit of service and solidarity through its active engagement in community health initiatives that promotes good health and well being not only for one’s self but also for others. In partnership with the 1203rd Community Defense Center, a national defense body under the Philippine Army Reserve Command, the HTC ROTC Unit successfully carried out its 5th Annual Blood Donation Drive on December 8, 2024, at Robinson’s Place, Lagao, General Santos City.
This significant health collaboration aims to strengthen community well-being by ensuring a steady and reliable blood supply, an essential resource for saving lives. The activity also formed part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) wide blood donation drive in celebration of the AFP’s 89th Founding Anniversary, linking the local initiative to the broader national effort to promote health, compassion, and civic responsibility.
Held under the theme “Laang Kawal at Makabagong Bayan: Dugong Alay Mo, Sandigan ng Buhay Ko,” the event underscored the shared commitment of the military and civilian sectors to nation-building through humanitarian action. Cadets, cadet officers, HTC personnel, and Red Cross volunteers and other donors from the community participated in the drive, demonstrating that each drop of donated blood serves as a lifeline that unites and strengthens the nation.
Through sustained efforts like this, Holy Trinity College reaffirms its dedication to fostering patriotism, volunteerism, and public service, values at the heart of true Trinitian leadership.
This collaboration strengthens our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in fostering:
- SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). The HTC’s partnership with 1203rd CDC, directly promotes health and wellness through its annual blood donation drive, addressing the community’s need for a stable blood supply and contributing to national health objectives.
- SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The collaboration reflects a multi-sectoral partnership in achieving health-related and nation-building objectives.
- SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). The civic engagement embodies the principles of peaceful, service-oriented citizenship, promoting trust and collaboration between educational institutions and the defense sector.
