HTC Strengthens Drug Prevention Efforts Through Life Skills Training
Holy Trinity College of General Santos City (HTC) strengthened its commitment to student welfare and drug abuse prevention through its participation in the Training of Trainers on Life Skills Enhancement in Drug Education and Prevention for Higher Education, conducted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office XII in partnership with the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) on October 13–16, 2026, at The Farm @ Carpenter Hill in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
Representing HTC were Ms. Joana Gene C. Patling, LPT, COAP, Student Affairs and Services Coordinator and Supreme Student Council (SSC) Adviser, and Ms. Kynah Vanezza Catoto, SSC Vice President. Their participation highlighted the college’s commitment to equipping its personnel and student leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote a safe, informed, and drug-free campus community.
The training featured activity-based learning modules designed to enhance essential life skills, including self-esteem building, effective communication, facilitation, decision-making, assertiveness, and personal development. These competencies are vital in helping students navigate challenges, resist negative influences, and make responsible choices.
The knowledge and strategies gained from the training are expected to strengthen HTC’s student welfare programs, support peer leadership initiatives, and advance drug education and prevention efforts within the college community.
Through its participation, Holy Trinity College continues to recognize the importance of life skills education in fostering holistic student development and promoting a culture of responsibility, resilience, and informed decision-making. By empowering educators and student leaders, HTC takes another step toward building a healthier, safer, and drug-free future for Trinitarians.
