Celebrating Identity and Belonging: HTC Handuraw Dance Ensemble Honors Blaan Heritage and Indigenous Representation
Holy Trinity College of General Santos City (HTC), through its Handuraw Dance Ensemble, joined the celebration of the 11th Blaan Day, recognizing the rich cultural heritage, traditions, history, and contributions of the Blaan Indigenous community.
Through its participation, the Handuraw Dance Ensemble expressed its solidarity with the Blaan people and emphasized the importance of preserving Indigenous identity and promoting cultural appreciation within the academic community. The celebration served as an opportunity to recognize the contributions of Indigenous Peoples to society and encourage greater understanding and respect for their cultural practices and traditions.
Beyond cultural representation, HTC recognizes the importance of fostering an inclusive campus environment where students from Indigenous communities and other underrepresented groups feel respected, valued, and represented. Through cultural engagement and student participation in organizations such as the Handuraw Dance Ensemble, the institution provides opportunities for learners to express their identities, share their heritage, and build meaningful connections with fellow students.
The celebration reinforces HTC’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging among members of the Trinitarian community. By recognizing Indigenous identities and encouraging cultural participation, the College continues to advocate for an educational environment that values every individual’s background and contributions.
