Breaking the Silence: HTC Promotes Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention
Holy Trinity College of General Santos City (HTC), through its Guidance and Testing Center, strengthened its commitment to student mental health through the Suicide Prevention Month Symposium Series held on September 12, 19, and 26, 2025, at EMC 2, Elementary Building.
The three-session series addressed key aspects of mental health and suicide prevention. The opening session, “Breaking the Silence: Understanding Suicide Beyond Stigma,” featured Ms. Sarahme G. Galabin-Ladica, RPm, Institutional Guidance Coordinator. The second session, “Speaking with Compassion: How to Communicate and Support,” was facilitated by Ms. Aloha Mae S. Tolentino, RPm, CHRA, College Guidance Advocate. The series concluded with “Building a Caring Community: Prevention Through Awareness and Action,” led by Ms. Christine P. Anino, RPm, psychometrician, educator, and mental health advocate.
The sessions engaged junior high school and college students in discussions on reducing stigma, communicating with empathy, supporting individuals experiencing emotional difficulties, and recognizing the shared responsibility of suicide prevention. Through these activities, HTC encouraged students to foster a compassionate and supportive campus environment where individuals feel heard, valued, and encouraged to seek help when needed.
Through its guidance services and mental health awareness initiatives, HTC continues to promote student well-being by providing educational opportunities that encourage open conversations about mental health and suicide prevention.
